Padarn Railway Hunslet Locomotive
This is a body kit of one of the three Hunslet locomotives built in 1882, 1886 & 1895 for the Padarn Railway in North Wales. The railway was built in 1843 to an unusual gauge of 4 ft and was originally horse drawn before the introduction of steam in 1848.
The line was built to replace the earlier 2 ft gauge Dinorwic Tramroad that ran on a different route down to Port Dinorwic where slate would be exported by ship. The railway and its locomotives continued exporting slate until November 3rd 1961 when the line closed and all three Hunslet locomotives were sadly scrapped.
